Dagmar Ski Resort - Uxbridge, Ontario

A recent review indicated that Dagmar « Ski Resort » was a «  little too hilly » for running. People who actually know about XC running will have a more educated opinion on the matter. Dagmar was host to the Ontario High School XC running Championships in 2022. It was one of the best courses EVER for the Championship. We are lucky have such a place for our local high schools to run.

This ski hill is pretty good for beginners, and close to Toronto. However, I tried booking private 1:1 lesson for my kids, and I don't feel it was worth it due to cost and time. It is $120 for private, but they make you pay for a lift ticket even though my son only used the magic carpet the whole time due to being a beginner, and then the total was $200 with rentals, and the lift ticket was only for 2 hours. Since he was a beginner, most of the time is spent putting bindings on and off, getting up the lift and down maybe 3 times. I understand that they need to teach you all that, but the lift ticket is 2 hours including lesson time so you only get 1 more hours to practice for $200 if you need rentals as well. If you can as a beginner, I suggest just booking magic carpet so you get 4 hours and practicing with the parent to reduce cost. Unless you already know a bit of how to put on and off bindings and going up lift, it cuts into you private time and not worth it. Also better to do a city class or group if possible. Overall the chalet is clean and quaint, our instructor was nice. I wished they made the lift ticket 4 hours of I'm paying that much.

Visited in January 2019. We are not used to the -40 temperatures but one of my Canadian friend took my family here. My son never skied before and at first I was a little apprehensive but enrolled him on one on one. The instructor was so good and maybe my kid was a natural he mastered it in 2 hours or so. My Canadian friend said he always comes here with his kids who are now adults and always loved the place and the staff. He is absolutely right! Excellent facilities and on top of this the staff are absolutely amazing. Will be back in the future definitely.

What a wonderful place Dagmar is! My family has been going weekly and we must say we have more and more fun each time we go. Despite the weather being challenging this season, it hasn’t affected Dagmar’s slopes. Staff here work tirelessly to keep this place great for skiers and snowboarders. You feel welcomed from the moment you get your lift ticket, to the warm smiles and hellos from the lift operators to the knowledgeable instructors… Dagmar is truly amazing!

It’s a great place, and I really like it. I have practiced a ton here and gotten way better and faster. Still, one thing I am concerned about is the lack of care the owner is giving the 1 star comments, for example, one person commented about rude instructors and the only thing the owner did to fix it was to “red flag” it and report it to Google.

Fantastic little resort just NE of the city. Some solid runs. Obviously you aren't looking at a top-tier resort but it's a nice local one that's great for learning and having fun with friends. My son loves it there. Friendly staff there and always smiling. It does get crowded on weekends with the amount of kids learning but that's to be expected. Overall, a solid place.

Dagmar has been the ski resort I've went to for the past 6 years. I only stay in the terrain park as it is my favourite place to ride. I have noticed the slopes are taking longer to open every year.

Instructors: I still remember! Some bad, some good! (I'm 16 btw)

Ski instructor when I was 6 (5/5): He held my hand when I went on the lift with him
Snowboard instructor when I was 8 (2/5): I was at the top of the magic carpet while the instructor and other students were at the bottom. (Ditched me I think, but I was smart enough to just wait)

The beginning of the 2023-2024 season wasn't a great start. The jumps were poorly designed! With an increase in the price for a night pass, I don't think it's worth purchasing in these current conditions. And I do expect even more warmer conditions next year, which is not ideal. I do understand that it is taking much more resources and time to great a snow wonderland for everyone, but please find a way to reduce the cost of the pass.

Food is also ridiculously expensive, I would recommend you bring your own food.

As such, I will not be purchasing a pass anymore in the coming years, but I will purchase a ticket to ride once in a while. Thank you guys for making my childhood a bit more fun :D. Have a great day!

Place is very well kept and offers a wide variety of slopes from the terrain park to the double blacks. Although the double blacks can be quite disappointing in length it’s still great to practice on. Try the poutine I highly recommend it!
